WHAT IS THE MOST SUITABLE FUEL FOR MY CAR IN TERMS OF ENGINE LIFE? No info from manufacturer, no manuals. WILL A HIGHER OCTANE GIVE ME MORE HORSEPOWER?

Hi axis,

There is no such thing as most suitable fuel for vehicle in terms of engine life. How long an engine can last would depend on many conditions and the most important would be usage condition. For a person who likes to rev to the limit most of the time, the engnine is not going to last as long as for someone who is gentler with usage.

Most vehicle would run with minimum Ron 92 and a higher octane rating does not equal to increase in horsepower. It can increase the performance in terms of torque range versus engine rpm.

Each engine is tuned differently and any difference in the ignition timing would be affected by different octane rating. The higher the octane, the more advanced the ignition timing can be without pinging.
