My engine seems to loose fuel supply when I reach 55 kph on first gear. The engine seems to have more to give but there seems to be a limit switch in engine rpm. Is it possible to adjust this setting higher, and how.

There is no legal way of over-riding the rev-limit.

If you really wanted to, you'd had to convert to OBD1 and purchase a new ECU and conversion harness. (Roughly $300).

And the stock redline is suitable enough for your engine, anything higher is pointless and you will potentially blow your motor.
