Looking into buying a car - 1995 Honda Civic DX that needs transmission work. Just to be on the safe side, how much would it cost to replace the transmission completely? Also do you know what a common problem might be and how much it would cost to fix? Car is selling for $900 - I think this might be a good deal. Thanks!

Should just be $300 to $400 in labor fees to remove and replace the tranny plus the cost of the replacement tranny. The tranny could just need a sensor replaced though so would be good to check out the old tranny before replacing it.

Thank you! That was very fast and very helpful. Would you happen to know a ballpark range for the tranny in this instance?

Not sure of your exact details (2 door, 4 door 1.5L etc.) But I did a quick search at www. Car-parts. Com and there seem to be a lot of used manual trannys for the 1995 civic at around $250 w/ warranty.
