Im not sure if it is an electrical fault but I cant seem to get any power out of the car. I am having to change gears very early (1500 - 2000Rpm). Would I be able to conduct the repairs by myself or would I be better off letting a mechanich have a look?

If you think it is an ECU problem then a code scanner will be essential to finding out any issues. If it is then most likely the ECU is retarding the timing or leaning out the fuel mixture. Both of these can be detected using a vacuum guage. Please note how the guage behaves under idling conditions and then at 2500 rpm. Please include needle deflection at both RPMs, if it vibrates and how long it takes for the needle to move.

Hi hawky_6694,

Prior to this happening, was any repairs done? Timing belt replacement, throttle body cleaning etc?

Engine does not rev more than 2000 rpm? Pulls? Jerks. Might be a clogged fuel line or related parts.
