Ok I just had 600.00 worth of reepairs done on my car to supposivly make the AC work the computer and some hoses and the compressor brackets. Well now the car will get real cold for only a short time and then smoke starts coming from the vents and then hot air starts coming out. If you turn the air off and then wait a while and turn it back on it works again only for a little while. What could be the problem?

Hi angie2nice2u,

The problem is due to frosting, ie the evaporator inside the vehicle is too cold and this would cause it to freeze.

Possible causes are:
1. External air leaking into vehicle. Check for worn door seals, dislodged plugs at firewalls.

2. The thermostat is adjusted too cold, try backing off from maximum.

3. Thermal sensor is installed incorrectly. It could be too far away from the desired position resulting in it not providing the correct temperature of the evaporator.
