I took my car to the local pepboys for them to check why my air conditioner wasn't working they then proceeded to tell me it was the compressor. When they gave me back my car i tried to turn it on but as soon as i let go of the key it would shut off. i tried about 4 or 5 times, when it wouldn't work i asked them and he tried it and it turned on i asked how he did it he said just like normal he then told me my car was heating up and that i should let it cool. he also told me it was not turning on because of the heating up. so i then parked it a couple hundred feet away and waited about an hour. i tried to turn it on then and it wouldn't budge 6 hours later and many attempts later i gave up and had to get my car towed home, because after talking to the pepboys workers they insisted they had nothing to do with my problem, though i had no problems before. Why does it keep turning off ? and Could pepboys have been the cause of it? and the picture included is what the pepboys technician did to check my car.

Wow that is one huge mess.

Does the vehicle crank? Have you checked the basics? Battery, starter, fuel, spark, etc?

If the vehicle didn't start after the mechanics touched the vehicle, they should be kind enough to atleast look at it and tell you if it's another failed component or if they indeed did induce a problem.

The car stays on so long as I hold the key in place. And the mechanic told me it was the ignition switch that it had given out do to age (they also neglected any responsibility and said they were not liable that because thye didn't cause it) but a friend of mine who was an automotive electrician told me it was burnt out that someone had caused it to short. But what my question is, did the pepboys mechanics cause it?
