A couple of things:

1. Why would the pop off valve on a Honda A/C compressor fail and cause me to lose all of the freon in the system. Will this ruin the compressor?
2. If my clutch is slipping can that be repaired without buying a new A/C compressor

Hi paul58,

Thank you for the donation.

When cooling of the AC system is inefficient, overheating in the system will result in excessive pressure causing the valve to blow.

Are the cooling fans working?
Is the condenser air flow restricted?

If the clutch is slipping due to excessive clearance between the clutch contact surfaces, readjusting the clearance should solve the problem.

If it is due to excessive wear on the contact surfaces, the clutch assy can be replaced as a separate unit without needing to replace the compressor.
