I have a 1987 honda accord - 200K 4 cly carb engine. I started it tonight and heard a pop. Now the car will not idel? I can start it, but must race the engine to keep it running. Foot off the gas engine stalls.

Does it run rough? I would check the plugs and wires to see if a plug came out. Can you tell more about the pop sound and where it might have come from, left, right, etc?

I checked the wires on the plugs, I pulled them off and reseated them. None of the plugs then self were lose. The pop came from the front of the engine. After I start it it runs good, but I need to keep my foot on the gas rev up and drop dowm to stall. No poppin as I rev.
