Week and a half ago and since then the red brake light keeps coming on

I'm one that never uses my e-brake. I took my car in for it's 3000 mi maintenance about a week and a half ago and since then the red brake light keeps coming on in the early morning on my drive to work. If I pull over and turn the car off the light goes off until the next day. Can you let me know what to ask at the repair shop so I don't get hosed. I don't want to take it to the dealer but that's where I developed the problem.

Hello, I'm Danny.

It's possible your brake warning light is coming on due to excessive wear of the brake pads causing the brake fluid level to drop in the brake master cylinder. Having a low brake fluid level will trigger the red brake light indicator to come on. Here is a tutorial showing how to replace the rear brake pads and rotors:
