2004 Honda Accord Rattle under hood

There has been a new rattle under the hood and my mechanic replaced the idle piece which did not fix the rattle.
the rattle is near the belts.....and he now says it is the water pump....Can I trust that this may be the problem before I spend the amount to fix it?

The rattle sounds like something is loose..

Hi KennyO,

Remove the serpentine belt and manually turn the water pump to check if it turns freely. Check the water ump pulley for sideway movements. If there are any side play, the water pump is bad.
