One morning I started the engine and noticed it was ideling high then it started to lope. It went from 700 to 2000 and carried on for a good while. After a 30 min drive I then stopping for 15 min. I returned to start the engine again it was smooth. Any ideas? Repair manual suggests vacume leakage. EGR valve. Air filter clogged. I have an AEM dryflow air intake on it and clean filter often. Could the extra dirt pulled in from the intake clog the EGR valve? Can it be cleaned of only replaced at $130?

It can be cleaned. Just make sure that you don't spray the carb cleaner straight into the diaphragm.

I would check your idle air control motor. Try unplugging the wire harness from the IAC motor. If the engine speed continues at the same speed, IAC is bad.

It's the idle air control valve. I had the same problem with mine.
