2001 Honda Accord thermostat

Engine Cooling problem
2001 Honda Accord 6 cyl Automatic 114000 miles

I just bought a used Accord 2 months ago. I recently noticed that while driving my car, the tempeature gauge goes moved all the way up to HOT and stayed there for a few before dropping back down to normal. This happens at random but often. Is it my thermostat or what?

Hi NJRaeRae,

It could be
1. Thermostat.
2. Insufficient coolant in system.
3. Clogged radiator.
4. Weak water pump.
5. Cooling fans not working.
6. Loose electrical connections for the gauge or sender.
