Transmission problem
2000 Honda Accord 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 142500 miles

I have been noticing while I am driving & in gar and go to accelerate the engine revs & the tachometer flies but I am not accelerating. Only when I back off the gas
and accelerate smoothly do I get power. Any hard acceleration I get the problem.
What would cause this?

Sounds like your clutch is slipping

It could slip even though I am already in gear?

Going down the road and you decides to make a jack rabbit move and the rpm goes up but the car is not moving as expected.

Thats correct. Shifting gears is fine & if I accelerate smoothly I am good, but when I want that punch of power, thats what happens.

Replace the clutch assy-that means pilot bearing, clutch disc, clutch cover and release bearing-Good luck
