I have been noticing while I am driving & in gar and go to accelerate the engine revs & the tachometer flies but I am not accelerating. Only when I back off the gas
and accelerate smoothly do I get power. Any hard acceleration I get the problem.
What would cause this?

Going down the road and you decides to make a jack rabbit move and the rpm goes up but the car is not moving as expected.

Thats correct. Shifting gears is fine & if I accelerate smoothly I am good, but when I want that punch of power, thats what happens.
