Engine Cooling problem
1999 Honda Accord 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

For a few weeks now my car will start to over heat when I am stopped at stop lights for just a few seconds when I have the air conditioning on. I have to turn the AC off and the temperature goes down. If I am constantly driving, the car will not over heat only when I am stopped and the AC is on. I also notice tonight that one of the fans in the front of the car isnt working. Just wondering if this is why my engine is over heating. I have all of the Anti freez coolent filled up, the oil is fine. And all of the fluids are right. Just wondering what I can do, or whats going on.

Hi dadrummerboy89,

Both fans should be working and if one is not working, the cooling efficiency is affected. The symptoms do indicate the failed fan is the cause.

You need to test the fan motor and if it is out, then replacement is required. However if the fan tests good, then you would have to check the wiring and controls.
