1998 Honda Accord trouble shifting

Over the last two weeks I have been having trouble shifting out of park into reverse or drive. When I turn the car on and apply the break the shifter will still allow me to push in the button but it will stick in park. After pumping the break and giving it a little time it will eventually allow me to shift. Any thoughts?

Hi dadler16,

Your brake switch, located on the brake pedal support, is fauly and needs to be replaced.

You are now driving with the brake lights working intermittently only.
