Yea, I just pulled the head on a 1998 honda accord, (2.3- 4 cylinder eng.) And put a new head gaskett back on. When I pulled it I had my two guide pins on the block. After pulling them and my old gaskett off. I cleaned my head and block real well and put my guide pins and all on and tightened and torqued everything down I read where it talked about an oil orvice valve. Was this between the head and the block. Or is it in the top of the head. Because I never seen nothing but my dow pins in the block or head when I pulled it. I just dont want to continue putting it back together and find out somethings missing. If thereis a piece gone can u describe what it looks like(confused). Id appreciate any or all help. Thanks

Hi edge2258,

Thank you for the donation.

The oil orifice valve is located at rear center of engine block, directly up from the oil filter and oil pressure switch. You can see a protruding part on the engine as if it is a drain tube.

Removeal is with the aid of a m6 bolt turned into the center and pulling it out. It has an o-ring to hold it in place and is not easy to be dislodged. Quite often this part is not removed and would not come off by itself so you have 2 choice.

1. Continue with what you have and stop worrying about it. This is what I would do as it is not going to affect anything.

2. Remove the head and take the orifice out to replace the O-ring.

Hey thanlks a million, that answered just what I need to know. I never pulled it out, just wanted to make sure it didnt fall out and I missed it. Now I can continue going about putting it back together without worrying about a piece missing. Thanks again
