Steering problem
1998 Honda Accord 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I need to know how to adjust the drive belt. The car is squeeling when it starts off. I want to try that before replacing the power steering pump.

Thank you,

Hi Tom,

Check out the link below for adjusting points.

https://www.2carpros.com/car_repair_information/year/1998/make/honda/model/accord/1998_honda_accord_drive_belt_routing_diagram.htm

After doing the adjustment and squeal is still there. With some spray lube in hand locate the tensioner and idler pulles. Then with engine off spray the center bolt on One of the puleys. Then start car, if squeal is gone replace pulley. If squeal still present turn off car and spray center bolt on other pulley and start car. If squeal is gone replace pulley. The squeal will only be gone for short period of time.
