1998 Honda Accord Automatic 254000 miles

Have to shake the ignition for key to turn and start car. Can you tell me what I need to do to fix this problem?

Your ignition key switch is worn off. Need to replace with a new one from the dealership.

Do you have to wiggle because the steering column is locked?

If so, it's because you must be turning the steering wheel when the car is off. Doing so locks the column and ignition. You can hear the column click when it locks. To disengage the lock, you can wiggle the key for a while and it will eventually disengage like you've been doing.

OR turn the wheel all the way one way while twisting the key. If it doesn't work, turn the wheel all the way the other way while twisting the key. Repeat as necessary. You'll get the technique down.
