Hi barryyates,

The idling speed is out of specifications resulting in the problem.

Possible causes are :

1. Low coolant level or clogged coolant hoses to the Idle Air Control valve or Fast Idle Thermal Valve.

2. Stuck or faulty IAC.

3. Vacumn leakages. PCV, brake booster vacumn hoses.

4. Idling speed adjusted too high.

5. Faulty FITV.
