Check engine light came on a while back, care pretty much runs fine, for some reason it will not go rev over 3000 RPM when it is raining, has a small drop in RPM's when I turn on the AC. I took it auto zone and they scanned it and came back with trouble code P1361. Definiton interuption in TDC 1 sensor circuit. How do I fix this.

Hi Jlamping,

Thank you for the donation.

The TDC sensor is located at left side of engine. Check for loose or contaminated connections and test the resistance of the sensor. It should have resistance of between 500 to 1000 ohms.

Quiteoften the sensor fails due to water contamination.

Does this mean that I will have to replace the TDC sensor, I do not have a multimeter to test the current state of the sensor, I have read that the sensor is located in the distributor, can you speak to this.

For some model they are in the distributor but for 1996 models some are at timing belt side.

You need to test if it is the sensor fault or just a loose or contaminated wire connections.
