My 1994 Honda accord has developed problems with the brakes, specifically the brake pedals. When you step on the pedals, specially if you're at a stop light or stop sign, the pedal will slowly go deeper towards the floor and the car will move. I have had to pump it to make sure I stop properly.

I have had my mechanic change the rotor, the pads, bleed the brake lines, and he now says it MAYBE the brake master cylinder. I just need to be sure what it is, before I pay him some more to change a part that still will not fix the problem. I drive mostly freeways, so that shows how important my brakes are to me. Thanks.

Sounds like a master cylinder to me.

Hi there,

Yes I agree with F41_Guy, this sounds like a by passing master cylinder, there is brake fluid leaking past the main cup, this will give a sinking pedal under light pressure with out showing any external leak, often under harder pedal pressure the pedal will say firm as the pressure on the seal is increased and less fluid can by-pass.
