how do I clean the engine and other dirty oily things under the hood without damaging the censors or any electrical wires such as the distributor? And where are all the things that may be damaged during the cleaning with degreaser and water located in a 1994 honda accord lx 2dr coupe?

Any sensor that you do not see like the temp sensor are generally under a cover such as the ones in the distributor and under the timing belts cover. I would not spray the cleaner on the wiring and you should be fine.
