Ok so I was stopped at a red light and my car engine turned off. After putting it back in park it started again. About 5 seconds later it turns off again. Luckily I was still moving long enough to pull over. I thought it was the battery but when I tired to jump start it that didnt work. My dad pushed my car home( I was right down the street). We checked the coolant, added oil, and scratched our heads. We have no clue what it is any ideas?

When you start it now it runs but dies shortly afterwards? How long will it keep running? Check the air filter. What I would like to know is if there is a time when it will not start back up. During that time I need you to check for spark at a plug or right off the distributor cap. Take one wire off and hold it over the hole to see if there is a spark when trying to start it. If you get scared to hold the wire wear a pair of clean dry work gloves.

Well it doesnt start anymore just that one time. It will crank a little bit but it is like not catching. We also found that the spark plugs have oil in where they are. I know this is not good at all.

The oil is fixable and not costly. Get the oil out of the wells and pull the plugs. Replace them. While one is out crank over the car a couple of time to see if there is spark. Connect one wire to the plug and hold the other end to a ground on the engine.

Got spark?

You will need to replace the valve cover gasket and the donuts that sit on the plug wells.

There are many other things wrong also. I was looking into buying a ford explorer 1997. The honda also has a crack in the radiator, no a/c( I live in florida), and driver side window doesnt work. Should I buy the ford and then work on the honda when time permits and sell it?

You are looking at something like $300 - $400 for the window. The A/C could be in the neighborhood or more and a radiator is going to run $120 and all of these prices don't really include labor. SOOOOOO

I didn't invent the word but trade comes to mind for the next vehicle if you want to move in to a newer one.

Does the coil have 12 volts in to it? If it does have 12 volts in, replace it. It has power but is not doing its job of creating the spark.
