I have to completely fill the radiator with coolant one or twice a week, more often when I'm driving in the city. It overheated once. I haven't seen coolant on the ground where I park. No visible leaks. In the morning there's a bunch of white smoke when I start it. It shakes when idling and sometimes it lurches when I shift from reverse to drive. I replaced the front motor mount and this has helped with the shaking and the lurching. I am at a loss of what to do. I browsed your site and the symptoms seem to point to the head gasket. I haven't been able to find any diagrams that show where the head gasket is or how to replace it. Please help!I'm a college student and would rather not take it to a mechanic if I can find something to show me how to repair it.

It sounds like a headgasket issue. I would not attempt to do this work yourself, it is pretty extensive. Have a cylinder leaktest done, this will quickly determine if the headgasket is an issue or not.
