Ok I have a 1990 Honda accord and with only 150k miles it is burning aprox 4 quarts of oil per tank aprox 350 miles. It just seems to be getting worse and it is also seems to be worse on the highway. I pulled one of the plugs and it is completely covered in oil. There was oil all over the plug hole before I had the plug even out.

This car always fires right up and runs perfect (except for the smoke) so my guess is the rings are shot.

My question is there anything I can do or add to slow down the process and just to get by? I have a 1200 mile trip I need to take but am very sceptical on taking this car. I really dont want to replace the motor or have to do any major repairs on this car if at all possible.

thanks, Jay

Try using a heavier weight oil with an addictive. I would personally use 10w40 or even a 20w50 if it's real hot where you are.

Ok today I changed the oil with 20/50 and added a at. Of lucas oil additive. I also changed the plugs and added a fuel injector cleaner.

It smokes more than ever now! Haha I havent taken it for a ride to try and burn stuff out yet, but it does seem to run alot smoother at idle and it is more responsive. When I reved it up a bunch of oil came out of the exhaust and when I changed the plugs the plugs and holes were completely covered in oil.

My : is the oil out exhaust and smoke just burning some of the buildup, or is this car probly just shot?

Basically I just need it to stop smokin to trade it in

thanks for any inpiut. Jay
