1988 Honda Accord Hey

Okay so I was having about the same problem but the only difference is that I have bought a new alternator about a year ago because the old one had gone out. I also bought a battery but I think that something is killing both of those items. The reason I say this is that I tried to charge the battery using a different car and it worked for a little but it then went dead in about 10 minutes. I had it attached to the other car for about 45 min. The alternator I think has gone out as well. I havent taken it in and tested it but what would kill both of them so quickly. I installed them correctly but I just dont know.
