A few days ago my truck kept stalling while driving, then the third time it quit and would not start back. So bought a new single coil ran for four miles, turned it off would not start again. Jump started it, then it ran another four or five miles and it quit again. So took cool back, thinking it was defective, got another new one and it started right up. Tried to drive it home got another four miles and it quit again. Finally got truck home. Next day bought a distributor from a junk yard started it up it let it warm up. Shut it off and it kept starting back. Drove it around thirty five to forty miles, turned the truck off for about five to ten minutes then we started it back up drove about four or five miles and it quit again while going around a curve. So then went to Advanced auto and bought an ignition control module and of course it started again ran it about two or three miles to gas station turned it off out gas in it and let it sit a total of probably fifteen minutes. Want to leave and would not start back again. What am I doing wrong? And what else could it be?

The best suspect is the pickup assembly in the distributor, but it is not likely a replacement would act exactly the same way. The goal now is to check for spark while the no-start is still occurring. If you find that you do have spark, the next suspect is a plugged and collapsing pick-up screen inside the gas tank. You can verify that by watching a fuel pressure gauge during a test-drive. If the screen is plugged, fuel pressure will drop when the highest volume of fuel is being pumped, which is during coasting.
