My car suddenly stopped moving when in drive. You can feel the transmission kick in and it tries to move but the engine doesn't rev when. You press the gas. It does that in drive and reverse but will rev normally in park.

It sounds like it can be an internal mechanical failure, but we should check the transmission fluid level and condition, please go over this guide to help:

Can I ask if the car grinds when you try to put the transmission in park? If so, you have a broken CV axle on one side. Check the fluid level and smell the fluid as well to see if it burnt.
