My car is making a helicopter noise coming from the front driver side. I had the wheel bearings, rotors, calipers, brake pads, and brake hoses all replaced 4 months ago. The noise does not stay consistent all the time just off and on. Any ideas? Thank you in advance.

Hi,

The first thing that comes to mind is the engine plastic undercover. See pic below.

Check to make sure that it is secure. Oftentimes, a shop will loosen or remove it when servicing the vehicle. Then, it will flap in the wind. Also, check the inner fender as well to make sure it isn't loose.

If it is loud enough for you to record, do so and upload it for me to hear.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe

Lol I was thinking the same thing, but everyone looked at me like I was crazy. And the shop zip tied it back up. So, I will definitely be fixing that properly.

Hi,

Was that the cause? LOL I'm not sure what else would cause that kind of sound. So, if they looked at you as if you were crazy, they are the crazy ones. LOL

Let me know.

Take care,

Joe

I took the plastic off just to see and it’s still making the sound. So now I’m going to check the inner finder well. And hope it’s that. And I am getting ready to put the cover back under the car now lol. I will let you know if it’s the inner finder well.

Hi,

I was wondering if you had any luck identifying the noise. You mentioned removing the inner fender liner. Did that make any difference?

Let me know.

None of that fixed it. I went to have all new tires put on and found out they couldn’t put the front driver side one on. Because the wheel would wobble, I took it back to the shop to find out they put a bad wheel bearing in it and now the CV axle is broken. Hopefully I will have it back tomorrow. I just can’t believe the bearing was bad when it hasn’t even been 4 months since I had them put new ones on with tons of other stuff as well. Thank you for all your help though because the plastic under my car was loose as well.

Wow! I can't believe it was wobbling that much. It had to be extreme. I would have thought you would feel it in the steering when driving. You know, I have a feeling the hub bearing itself wasn't tightened enough. It sounds like you were close to losing the wheel.

I hope they are paying for the axle as well.

Regardless, thank you for the update. Feel free to let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

Take care,

Joe

They are making me pay for all of it. And the labor cost I thought maybe the bearing would still be under warranty but so far, they are making it sound like it’s not. But I will let you know if anything else happens. I hope it doesn’t because so far, I’ve put almost 1,000 into the car even though at first it was all under warranty. Thank you for all your help.

Hi,

You are very welcome. I still feel they shouldn't have charged you for the axle or labor. I never would have charged if a faulty part caused other damage. The parts store would have paid for both. LOL

Regardless, I'm glad it's fixed and you are safe again.

Take care and feel free to return anytime.
