Hello, I have a potential heater core issue. I noticed the carpet on my passenger side floor is wet. I was thinking the heater core broke, however that would typically be under the dash. This is more under the front seat in the back. Would this still be a heater core issue, or should I focus on the evaporator coil?

Hi,

Check to see if the fluid has a sweet smell to it. Also, inspect under the dash for evidence of a leak. It is possible the leak is going under the carpet and gathering where you mentioned.

I attached an exploded view of the heater core. Check to see if there is any evidence of a leak at any of the connections.

Let me know what you find. Also, note that if you press a finger into the damp area, if it is coolant, it won't evaporate from your finger. Plus, it will feel slippery to the touch.

If it does evaporate, it could be water leaking from the evaporator core if you are using the AC a lot.

Let me know.

Take care,

joe
