Blower motor would only operate on high so I replace the original blower motor resistor (and it needed it, but some additional fallout from the resistor going bad occurred on the heater control circuit board (circuit board ID is 25-96-004 A3). I found a similar heater control board from another third generation van (local pull-a-part yard) but the circuit board for that heater control unit is (ID 17-9-005 B3), the pin counts are the same on the top and bottom rows, but there is a alignment slot on the amphenol connector has moved from being over the top left pin to now being over the second to the left pin. The wiring colors look very similar between the original connector and the replacement unit but I need to validate that the pins are actually doing same thing between circuit boards so that I can just switch the connector that came with the replacement unit pin for pin. Any way to get the circuit board pinouts for these two circuit boards? Or other recommendations on how to replacing the circuit board?

I have not plugged the heater control unit back up since I changed the blower motor resistor as the heater control circuit board has a few smoked components on the board. So I figured it would be better to replace the heater control unit before I attempted to test to prevent any further damage to the system. When I replaced the blower motor resistor (original one) it had almost completely fused one of the leads to the amphenol connector and had one lead that was failed due to what appeared to be rust. Were you able to see the two pictures that I had uploaded that showed the difference between the two circuit board amphenol connectors?

See attached. The Circuit board with the blue connector is the old A/C and heater control circuit board. If you look below the first pin on the bottom row, left side, you can see the smoked electronics. The second picture is a replacement A/C and heater control circuit board from another third Generation van. The car that I got the circuit board from I believe was a 1998 LXi and my car is a 1997 LX. The cars appear to have the same A/C and heater functions, etc. The only things different appear to be the circuit board is slightly newer design (all functions appear to be the same between the circuit boards, i.E lights are in the right places, push buttons and knobs are in the same place, etc) and instead of a blue connector it is now black in color and the connector alignment slot has now moved from from being over pin one (top left pint) to pin two (second to left). I have the replacement unit connector that will fit but I will need to splice the lines from the old wiring to the newer black connector and I need to therefore ensure all pinouts are the same between the blue and the black connectors. In examining the wire color codes that appear to all be the same but maybe two. So I need to know if I can just slice the wires pin1 for pin1, pin2 for pin2, etc or do I have to make some changes. That is what I need help with. Thanks.

Thanks. It will not work you need the exact replacement.

Have you tried to find a complete control unit?

Does it has automatic climate control or manual?
Front only or rear air as well?
