I just hooked up a new head unit to my car. Now my headlights (parking) will not turn off. How do I fix this?

Hi,

That is an interesting one. I'm not sure what wiring you were involved with under the dash when you installed the head unit. Where did you get power and ground? Also, are all the parking lights on or only one or two?

Do me a favor, remove the two fuses for the tail lights located in the junction box on the right side of the dash. I want to know if that shuts at least the rear lights off. If it doesn't, then we have a short after the fuse. See pic 1

Pics 2, 3, and 4, I highlighted the fuses I'm referring to and showing the location. It's interesting that the audio fuse is only two fuse locations away from the fuse for the right parking lamps. Double-check to make sure nothing is shorting them.

Here is a link you may find helpful:

If I had to guess, I suspect somehow you have shorted power in the micro computer in the fuse panel which is causing the lights to remain on. So double-check.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Take care,
Joe
