Last year we had the two hydraulic pistons that hold the hood in place replaced. The system worked perfectly until we took the hood off and left it off for about six months. Now when we try and put on the hard top it draws the handles (on the hard top) into place but the left side is not keeping it secure. The interior flashing light comes on and you can pry (with your fingers) the back of the hard top away from the body of the car. This is not happening on the passenger side.

I have been told that there is a way to adjust the locking mech but I have no idea how. Any suggestions?

When you took the hood off were the pistons extended? What it sounds like is that one of the piston lost it's pressure. Similar to shocks that leak. Take each piston off and see what one still has a lot of pressure. New ones are available at most automotive stores, if they don't have them they can be ordered.
