Hi there!

My brake pedal has gone stiff on my van. When I'm driving it it will not allow me to stop immediately and gradually allows me to press down.

I have tried pumping it with the engine of but there is hardly any room to pump as it is already stiff. When the engine starts while my foot is pressing the brake it goes down, (although not fully).

I had tried drilling out my own grommet from beside the fuse box (beside where the other cables were coming into the cabin) under the glove box.

I had gotten through two thin layers of steel but stopped when I seen a third.

When I press the pedal while the van is off I can hear an air leaking noise coming from that direction.

Would these symptoms suggest I've hit something I shouldn't have?

Thanks!

Hello,

1. First remove brake booster(servo) hose engine on check if vacuum present also check the one way valve on it must pass vacuum only in one direction.
2. Engine off use hand vacuum apply vacuum at brake booster it must maintain vacuum if not then its defected.
3. For the air leak noise lift the vehicle and check visually if any damage appear and if related with brake booster vacuum.
Thank you for using 2CarPros.

I put pressure on my brake and could feel the air coming through the hole! Ouch,
I could also see part of the steel brake mechanism moving when brakes were applied through the 6mm hole.

Thanks for your reply!

Would a quick spot weld fix this as when the brake presses the air is being forced out this hole?

Thanks!
