My speedometer, odometer, and my trip meter all quit working at the same time. Would this mean the sensor is bad? Or the speedometer cable broke or needs to be greased? I am not sure where any of it is, this is my first car.

Good morning.

There is a vehicle speed sensor. It is where the right side axle enters the transmission. It is right above the seal. I attached a picture for you to view.

This is the most common failure for this issue as this sensor sends the signal to the ECM and then to the instrument cluster.

It has an electrical connector and three small bolts holding it to the case. It is tight to access. You may have to jack it up or if you have small hands, you can get it from the top.

I am trying to purchase the sensor but I cannot find the one that looks like the sensor shown in the picture.
