'96 GMC Yukon suddenly won't start

I have a 96 GMC Yukon with 180k miles. My truck was running fine, I went in the store and tried to start my truck with my remote start, it didn't work. I went outside and tried to start with my key, seemed the battery was dead. Anyhow, I put a fully charged battery in there and when I try to start it it just chugs slowly like it's trying to start but won't. My friend thinks it is the timing chain. Anybody agree or disagree?

Before you suspect the timing make sure the car has spark and fuel. These are more common causes for a vehicle not to start. However I would consider the timing chain after checking the above because of the amount of mileage.
