I have a 2007 GMC Yukon XL. It has 90,000 miles on it. Oil pressure started going down and the engine made a ticking noise. Soon I had more problems and the mechanic found one of the valve springs broken. The engine started emitting blue smoke and the engine rattles. A computer diagnosis showed # 6 plug not firing. The plug was covered with oil. I changed the valve seals, piston rings, etc but the diagnosis kept showing low oil pressure should I change the oil pump?

Hello,

I would look at the oil pump pick up screen because they can clog due to lack of maintenance. If that's okay do the oil pump here are the instructions to do so in the diagrams below. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

Oil pressure gage says the pressure is low, so I changed the oil. That did not work so I went to a thicker oil, from 5-30 to 10-30. Then I replaced the oil pressure sensor and the oil level switch. As soon as the car warms up the oil pressure light says it is low unless I am pressing on the gas, then it goes off. Now I want to change the oil pump but I need to find the location of it. I think it is on top but I am not sure.

Couple of hours. Need to support front of engine with a jack, remove engine mounts, lift engine, and drain and remove oil pan.

So I removed the oil pump and I replaced it with a new one. I just wanted to know what is the torque for the bolts to tighten it?

What engine? If it's a 4.8_6.0L make sure to seat oil pickup into pump prior to tightening bolt-106 in. Lb. The 4 bolts that hold pump on tighten to 25NM or 18 ft. Lobs.
