2005 GMC Yukon speedometer

I was driving on the freeway when I reached my exit I let off the gas and my speedometer stayed at 55 and it slowly roughly went back down I took apart my instrument cluster but I can't figure out how to remove the needles so I can put lithium grease on the motor thats sticking

The gauge is actuated by an electrical current. I feel there may be a problem with the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) that is causing it to slowly drop. Does it do it all of the time?
