When I hook up a code reader it will not register anything. I tried 2 different readers and they would not work. It acts as if the diagnostic connector is dead. The reason I am trying to read a code is that the engine light stays on. What could cause the connector to be dead?

Check the cigar lighter fuse in the underhood fuse box. It will be marked on the fuse box cover what fuse it is an will be labled as CIG LTR fuse and will be a 15amp fuse. Make sure that it is not blown.
