1998 GMC Truck V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

brake lights only come on when emergency flashers are activated. Changed pedal switch with no luck. Cargo brake light works. All relays working and intact. I've done everything I know of

Your brake lights are wired through the turn / hazzard signal switch. This is a common issue - and it indicates that your switch is failing. Replace the entire switch unit. Be sure to dissable the airbag - if equiped - by removing the airbag fuse when working on this switch.
