I have a 2000 GMC sierra which is starting to lose a large amount of coolant and I think it is coming from the area around the water pump. (Front of engine area around the fan) Is it difficult to change the water pump if that is the problem? I have done alot of small jobs but never a water pump. Is this something an average joe could do? If so, about how long am I looking at? If not, how much am I looking at to have someone else replace it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That's the wrong question for me, changing a water for me on any vehicle would be like you changing your dirty shorts (no insult intended, just an example) in other words it doesn't take me very long (too bad I am not your neighbor I would be glad to help you), the only advice I can give you is to purchase a manual from our site and it should step you through it pretty easy, I hope you have some tools at least. Good luck and I hope you have some friends to help.
