1999 GMC Sierra V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I just replaced my passenger side power mirror (used) on my 99 gmc k1500. The mirror I just replaced does not work at all, and now I only have down on the driver side. Prior to this replacement, both mirrors worked as they should. What is the solution?

Hello -

I have provided the wiring diagram for you to assist with your troubleshooting. It doesn't appear to be a fuse since you have power to one. I would still check though and use an ohm meter to check the fuse.

Next I have attached the troubleshooting information to check wires with the plugs.

I have slightly overlapped a little so you see what goes to what.

You might try installing the previous mirror to see if maybe the replacement has a major short that is affecting everything.

Hello -

Just as a note - after I had sent you the information I did some other looking. You may have some recalls on your vehicle. The dealer may fix these for free. Please contact the dealer service department, give them the VIN number of your car and have them check on these to see if they apply to you.

I do have a repair manual, however it does not have a wiring diagram for the power mirrors. Also the information you sent seems to be for the new body styles. I have the older body style, and the wiring diagram seems to be missing a blue wire that I have on both sides along with the yellow. There is the purple, and red on the right side, and the light green, and white on the other.

This may work. I am curious as to what shop manual you are finding this from. What Iam seeing here and what I have are two different things. When I have time I will take pictures of both sides of the wiring, and you can see where there is some concern.

Hello - mottcrick

That would be great with the pics.

Also what would be a great help is to check the wires to see if you are getting voltage as you should according to either the 1998 or 1999 wiring diagram so we can discuss your findings.

Was the 1998 wiring diagram more of what you have?
