1999 GMC Sierra Clicking until engine is warm

When I first start the truck, there a loud clicikng that persists until the engine warms up. The clicking is slower when the engine is idling and faster a you rev the engine or accelerate. Once the engine warms up it goes away.

Your engine has hydraulic roller lifters. Hydraulic lifters need oil in them to work. When they get older they tend to bleed down or drain out the oil stored in them. You have either a few bad lifters or a weak oil pump.
