Has been tuned up twice each by different shop may run smoothly for period of time then roughly for period of time. New radiator recently installed and it actually seems to run better (though motor never has ovver heated nor even run at a significant incresed temperature. This problem has been going on for 2-3 years.

If it seemed to run smoother after the new radiator, try using a blow wand on the condenser, you may have a partially clogged cooling fin area. This in turn will not let enough air pass thru the radiator. If it's hot where you are it would be more noticable. This difference does not show up on the temp gauge on the dash, but a few degrees in engine temp can make it run rough. I know gas is expensive, but using better grades can pay off in smoothness as well.
