My brakes are a little spongy, they work good ifi pump them, but then after holding them down, the pedal starts to go down when stopped

Hi:
If the brake pedal ISN'T going to the floor, make sure the rear brakes are properly adjusted. If they are far out of adjustment, a common problem, you will have a spongy brake pedal with extra travel. If the pedal goes to the floor, check to make sure there are no leaks, front rubber hoses don't expand when the brakes are applied, and the brake fluid is full. If you find none of these problems, replace the master cylender. NOTE: If you hold steady pressure on the brakes and the pedal slowly goes to the floor, replace the mastercylender. The brake fluid is bypassing the piston and in need of replacement.
