My son switched wires around

My son bought a 1986 Buick hearse and put plugs and wires on, but he did not mark the wires and their placement and switched them around to the wrong cylinders. He cranked it and now the firing is all screwed. The eighth digit on the vin is "Y" if that helps. How hard a problem is this to fix and is there any way I can find the cylinder #'s to correct this?

There might be. Im saying might be a diagram on the inside of the hood. If not just call a local auto store with a Auto Maintence Manual and they should be able to look it up in a jiff.

Easy fix, take out the #1 spark plug, put finger over the hole, rotate engine slowly till there's pressure on your finger--line up the timing marks on the harmonic balancer, take off the distributor cap and see where the rotor is pointing. It will be pointing to where the #1 spark plug wire goes. Then wire them up in the order they go. Chevys are usually-1 8 4 3 6 5 7 2. Fror V8's
