Air conditioner compressor

My husband has a 1995 Chevy S 10. He recently had the air conditioner compressor fail on the truck. It was replaced with a rebuilt compressor. It soon began making grinding noises once the air conditioning was turned on and it eventually froze up. A 2nd rebuilt compressor was installed and the same thing happened, this time breaking the serpentine belt. Finally, a new compressor was installed. It worked fine for a couple of days and then the compressor again begain to grind and squeal once the air was turned on. It now just froze up. Before returning it to the mechanic, we wonder if their is something else going on in the air conditioning system besides the compressor. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

When a compressor comes apart it can put fragments of metal into the lines. If the lines are not flushed and cleaned of these fragments, they can get into the next compressor and damage it.
