2001 GMC Jimmy stalling

Hey guys when I drive my gmc jimmy it will do fine for a while and then just fall on it's face. I have had it to a mechanic but he never got it to do it with him. It will act like it has no power to run and will pop out the exhaust I am at a loss as to what this might be. When it does it some of the dash lights will come on thank you.

Hope this helps. I had a problem of the Jimmy stalling at stop lights, once in the middle of an intersection, and at stop signs. SUV would sometimes just die or almost die and all the dash lights would come on. The replacement of the "idle motor" (I had never heard of this, it was called this by the mechanic) solved that problem.
