Suspension problem
2000 GMC Jimmy Engine Size unknown Four Wheel Drive Automatic 130, 00 miles

Hi - The mechanic said he would charge me 575.00 to replace the front right hub on my 2000 Jimmy 4X4 - that seems very expensive to me.I bought the unit at the Auto Store and I am wondering if this is a fairly easy job - my husband has replaced hubs before but not on a 4x4 - Is this a lot more difficult replacing a 4x4 hub vs a regular hub - are there any special tools needed. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Anna

That way to much to pay you should pay about $200or 3-4 hours of labor it's really not that hard of a job to do best idea is to buy a repair manual and do your self all you should have to do is take tire off remone tie rod there a big nut in middle of hub remove nut may need special socket to remove (about $30 at auto store) that will be hardest part than remove than put jack under suspension arm and remove upper balljoint nut than lower balljoint
nut may need pickle fork to seperate than remove hub

Im pretty sure on this truck all you need to do is remove brake rotor and caliper then remove the 36mm nut in the center of hub then remove 3 bolts that hold the hub onto spindle then beat it off with a hammer. Very easy job.
