1999 GMC Jimmy Service 4WD Light

My service 4wd light came on. It does this periodically but seems to be more frequent lately. I have gone to autozone and had them hook their reader to it but they couldn't get it to work. I just need some ideas as to what might be causing this.

Could be any of the items in the 4wd control system. Unfortunately you will need to find a shop with a real scanner capable of accessing the 4wd system to see why the warning has been coming on. Once the codes are retrieved we can figure out what to fix
